His political life
In 2020 Lesley "Knife" Knife was released after a "day" received for participating in an unauthorized event: he and Alexander Tomatorov (in the photo on the right) were detained after a yard concert in a park on Angarsk. And, like other decent people in Belarus these days, they were convicted according to delusional far-fetched protocols. After returning home, the musician wrote a whole story about what happened. His "Hell with a Human Face" can be read in its entirety here, and I will give a couple of excerpts.
«..After the delusional protocols were drawn up, I got acquainted with my accusation and completely refused to sign it. It claimed that I played the guitar and sang seditious songs, shouted slogans, and generally consciously led an active lifestyle.
— I won't sign this nonsense!
--Why?
— I haven't played guitar since 93, they'll laugh at me when they read it, there's not a word of truth in this protocol!
— Well, put a signature, just add that you disagree with the accusations.
— I will not sign anything, I am not obliged to slander myself.
— As you wish.
— Exactly.
The designer did not insist. Instead, he tried to arouse our sympathy by telling us that rebar flies into them, gas is sprayed, that their salaries are small, and they don't pay overtime. He could be with his family at midnight, and here we are.
Yeah, we really wanted to come here, you'd think we slept and saw.
Suddenly, when he was going home, his rhetoric changed a little and he said that he had also read a lot of books in his time, in particular, he could name any author of any era on a bet.
— Name a Renaissance poet.
— Boccaccio.
— It won't work, it's almost medieval.
—Petrarch," he said after some thought.
— Well, accepted.
We went to the neighborhood, and the designer remained the moral winner. But when I was solving crosswords out of boredom in prison, I realized that for cops, crosswords are not just crosswords, but a source of information, and most likely he learned about Petrarch from the magazine."
